I found this book (left) at Melissa's house and took it while she wasn't looking... There are a number of great hikes in the book that we could do without the need to take a Friday and/or Monday off. Two seemed quite promising; one is an "isolated" 18-mile hike with great views while the other, of equal distance, fords 40 streams and includes a great watering hole - a slam dunk summer hike. 
The JAC (Junto Adventure Corps) has yet to explore the reaches of Western Maryland, in addition, this is the same (general) area where I saw a black bear as large as the one in the Disney movie "The Fox and the Hound" (see photo on right and note the size of the red fox as compared to the black bear).
