On June 29, 2006, Junto members Wolfy, JonSnow, and Anthony Priest (with Snow-rents and Junto Jopefuls Amy Sullivan and Gigi Metz) visited the White House for the arrival ceremony for the Japanese Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi. As part of the ceremony, SNOWOLF received Japanese and American flags of White House vintage and stood no more than 50 feet from the pomp and circumstance of the Old Army Fife and Drum Corps performance and the Pres. and PM's review of the Honor Guard. As an added bonus, some intentional and non-intentional humorous moments provided levity to the occasion. Amidst the solemn agreement of both men on global priorities for fighting terrorism, nonproliferation, lifting people out of poverty, and working on green technologies (a Junto SLAM DUNK policy initiative), were also sprinkled the following:
- The PM stated that the Japanese people call him "Lucky Man," then proceeded to tell us that he was certainly "Lucky Man" on this fine day, as he brought the nice weather with him from Japan (after our week of record rains).
- The President said "nukular" twice in a sentence (and no one but JonSnow snickered!).
- The President said that although the PM came to see the President, he's really actually just looking forward to paying his respects to the "King" (see June 30 file photo below)

All in all, an amazing time. Many thanks to Amy Sullivan, who made it all possible for us to walk onto the South Lawn for some amazing memories. Serf Snow decrees this the Junto "Slam Dunk" scholarship event of the week that was June 26-30!
